The 37th Real World Emissions Workshop will take place at the Marriott Long Beach hotel in Long Beach, CA, from March 21-24, 2027. The 2027 workshop honors over 30 years of research and contributions to ever-improving emissions and air quality and continues to evolve in response to research needs. We welcome abstracts highlighting new and novel research in topics relating to:
- Real World Emissions Impacts of AI Technologies
- Emissions Measurement Methods: Ultra-Low Emissions Measurement (How Low Can You Go?)
- Alternate Fuel, Zero-Emissions Vehicles: Hydrogen, Non-Carbon Fuels
- Electric and Hybrid Vehicles: Battery-Electric Fuel Cells
- Fuel Effects on Emissions
- Non-Exhaust Emissions
- Emissions Modeling & Inventories
- Emissions Control Measures: I/M, OBD, Technologies and Strategies
- Air Quality and Impact of Regional Emissions/Real World Impacts of Policy
- In Use Exhaust Emissions: On Road, Off Road, and Non-Road
The 2026 Workshop hosted over 170 participants from 11 countries and was co-sponsored by the California Air Resources Board, South Coast Air Quality Management District, and National Renewable Energy Laboratory.

While we do our best to accommodate your preferred selection, your selection does not guarantee placement in the workshop agenda. Abstracts submitted as platform presentation may be invited as a poster presentation.

Each abstract submission is required to use the abstract style guide, linked below. Abstracts must include the following information and be submitted HERE.

- Platform Presentation or Poster Presentation. Students are encouraged to identify themselves as student presenters. Abstracts for demonstrations may also be submitted.

Review Process & Background
Abstracts are evaluated based on content, originality, and relevance to the workshop. Presentations can describe works in progress or even planned work if the project is of sufficient scope and relevance. Preference for platform presentations is given to those containing new research results. Presentations should not be of a marketing or promotional nature.
